Elysium helped the survivors on the island of Thetkethaung, Myanmar to rebuild their lives after Cyclone Nargis in 2008 by directly supporting native charity KT Care. Our system does work.
Elysium does not accept donations. We are simply here to help you to find the right charities to donate to. All the charities we work with are completely independent from Elysium. We do not actually accept any money from anyone in fact. All the charities listed here are listed free of charge and we ask for nothing at all in return from them. Please simply choose the charities who you feel match what you are trying to achieve and are working on the projects you care about and donate directly to them. If you'd like any help any time or have any questions the Elysium team are always only too happy to be of assistance. Alternatively we are sure that the charities we have listed here will be very happy to assist you also.
Here is a list of the most reliable and efficient charities who we are currently working with. Please note that there are thousands of magnificent charities around the world who we have not yet met and who are not yet listed here. If you know of, work with, or run any great charities please do email us any time and we'll do everything we can to see if we may be able to help if the charity, individual or organisation you are recommending fits with our criteria of efficiency and effectiveness in helping the poorest people in the world.
UPDATE: 21st September 2011 We are in the final stages of organising our latest support projects for native organisations in Sierra Leone and Central African Republic.
UPDATE: 16th November 2012 We are organising a second trip in October 2013 giving the opportunity for anyone to visit CAR for 7 or 14 nights while helping with a project to help the street children of Bangui (Capital of CAR) to learn farming skills and find their independence in the peaceful villages away from the dirty and dangerous street life which they have never had any choice but to survive in until now.
An easy way to help people right away is by supporting the Lifestraw organisation: http://www.vestergaard.com/our-products/lifestraw If you would like to get involved or support Elysium's work please start by simply sharing our site on Facebook, Twitter and email with your friends, family and contacts. Please email us or call any time if you'd like to get involved more hands on or are keen to donate to one of our projects. Remember that Elysium is deliberately not a registered charity and we do not accept donations ourselves (we don't even have a bank account!). We merely encourage people to donate to native projects which we have researched in some of the poorest countries in the world.
